I have had a chance to work and meet some incredible wedding vendors over the past year and I am excited to bring you their stories, so I’m kicking off with Sydney wedding cake supplier Priya and her business Sugarpot.
Priya makes the most beautiful sweet goodies for your wedding day. I had the pleasure of sitting down to chat with her and try some of her AMAZING cakes, each one lovingly hand made from scratch (even down to the divine sugar flowers that adorn many of her beautiful cakes). There is so much love and care taken with each creation that I urge you to get in touch with her to chat all things yummy 🙂
You can find Priya via her website, on Facebook, and Instagram.

How long have you been business?
Sugarpot has been in business since 2008.
What makes your business different?
Our philosophy to never compromise on the quality of ingredients and craftsmanship and our belief that every cake can be personalised to reflect the uniqueness of the client is what sets us apart as a business.
What trends do you think are going to be big in 2017?
Butter cream finish cakes I believe are making a big come back and this will be one of the options that will become very popular with couples this year. Off takes of this include the semi naked and naked cake all adorned with fresh flowers, with emphasis on the taste and simplicity of the wedding cake.
What is your favourite style of cake?
I love designing cakes inspired by the elements that the couple include in their weddings like: the invitations, the bridal dress, the bridal bouquet or even including family traditions be it in the cake flavour or colour.
What do you love about your business?
We take pride in baking from scratch all our cakes and butter creams and when we see clients enjoy our samples we know they can see the love we’ve put into our product. I also love watching the faces of clients light up when I offer design suggestions incorporating elements from their theme. What humbles me the most is their trust in my abilities as an artist.
What do you find challenging?
Client budgeting, I think is often a challenging part of my business. There are very few articles clearly outlining the costs involved in creating a truly personalised wedding cake and the few articles that are there, often stress more on how savings can be made rather than share what is involved behind the scenes. Like any hand crafted art, cake decorating is an art and is very labour intensive. The pricing would then reflect the amount of time spent creating and bringing the design to life.
Thank you so much to Priya for taking the time to see me and share your passion for your business.
